Hoover Dam Spillway - Looking North Towards Arizona

Hoover Dam Spillway - Looking North Towards Arizona

This was my first visit to the Hoover Dam. I have had numerous people tell me when your
in Vegas you have to see the dam. I must say it was the most impressive man made
object I have ever seen. When you park on the Arizona side, right next to the parking lot
is this monstrous spillway. There is also a matching one on the Nevada side of the Dam.

I guess to put the size of these Two Spillways in perspective. Each one has the capacity
to allow 200,000 cubic feet of water per second to flow thru each one (side). Niagara
Falls has the same flow as one of these spillways. So the Hoover Dams two spillways
potentially are like two Niagara Falls...

The Dam itself is certified to release 73,000 cubic feet per second of water...

My reason to visit the Hoover Dam is it is not just an engineering wonder but also a work
of Art. It is the biggest piece of art deco ever created by Man. Over the next couple of
Days, I will showcase this 8th Wonder of the World.
