St Augustine was Founded in 1565 by the Spanish. The Castillo de San
Marco's Fort built originally by the Spanish in 1695, She was capable
in her day of firing 471 rounds an hour from her 80 big Guns. During
Spanish times reinforcements came from Havana, Cuba and took two
months to arrive, so she was built to withstand any onslaught. A
Formidable opponent. She was never defeated in her many battles. I
was pumped to go there and photograph her fortifications.
The wind this night was ferocious, The moon was full, The Skies Angry.
I took this shot of the Barista, the main focal point of the
fort, This Look Out Post faces the entry to the Harbor. In Colonial times
when the Lookout Guards saw smoke plumes from arriving ships, they
said it was time for everyone to Pray.
We then headed into town for some Ghost Stories, Dinner and a few Mojitos.
I want to go back again and just shoot the old Town and get drunk on Mojitos.
And Party it up in America's oldest european settlement... for a whole weekend.
Wish you were here.
