2009’s First Sunrise - Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse

Here is what I saw when I arrived at the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse just 6 minutes before Sunrise…

You can see the Lighthouse popping it’s head above the Palm trees. These days it’s surrounded by a Coast Guard base. So I gingerly roamed the shore closer to the Lighthouse in this really cool pre-dawn light.

2009’s First Sunrise - Blowing Rocks

I saw this big rock sitting out in the waves… The God light still Blasting away. A few minutes later the approaching storm ended the show.

Tomorrow I’ll post some pictures of the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse. The pre-sunrise show was also spectacular.

2009’s First Sunrise - Blowing Rocks, near Jupiter Inlet, FL

Lori (In memoriam 9/13/60 - 11/30/08) and I had been planning, well Lori had been planning this trip to the Jupiter Inlet. We planned on Photographing the Lighthouse, Blowing Rocks and The Breakers. Time permitting, the Loxhatchee river area.
I managed to Photograph the Lighthouse and the Blowing Rocks.

Today, I wanted to show the sunrise shot from Blowing Rocks. Being the spiritual person that I am, I guess I needed a sign as to what 2009 portends. I guess maybe Lori sending me a signal from above.

Well…. The God light has never shown so bright for me as this morning. A full 360 degrees, no less, in every picture…

It’s a sign…

Vietnam Memorial - Jerry and Lori Self Portrait

During our Fall trip to the Northeast US, we stopped in America’s capital, Washington D.C. My Dearest Lori (In memoriam 1960 - 2008) and I did a self portrait as a reflection on The Vietnam memorial. What Fun!!! The light this particular morning was simply incredible. We were as always feeling Lovey Dovey. Lori was all about the hugs. So Here You Go…

Lori walking in Water - Florida’s Forgotten Coast

Here is my Beloved Lori Carbin ( In memoriam 1960-2008) walking on water in the Bald Point State park on Florida’s Forgotten Coast. We were roaming the beach looking for something to Photograph. Lori noticed this jetty heading out about 50 Yards into the ocean. She immediately headed out to the Tip. I convinced her to pose briefly while I took this shot. I love how she is at the tip of the Pyramid, walking on water…

It was very appropriate…

Snowy Pines at The Grand Canyon

While I was walking around the edge of the Grand Canyon. As I went, Poking in the snow with my tripod to make sure the footing was secure. I saw these cool Pines with snow all over them. Then I looked into the Canyon and Saw the shadows on this little peak half way across.

The Grand Canyon at the Moment of Sunrise

Yea, once the sun rises, so does your adrenalin level. I have never seen the Grand Canyon after a snow storm but all I can say is Wow!

Those trees in the picture are 25 footers. The Canyon was created by the Colorado River over 6 million years and is 277 miles long and ranges in width from 4 to 18 miles. In places it is more than a mile Deep. The Grand Canyon is considered a holy site by The Pueblo people.

I hope on my next visit to get this shot from the Bottom of the Canyon.

Gateway to Yosemite Valley during Twilight in Heavy Fog after all night Storm- Yosemite National Park, CA

There are times in you life when you are at the right place at the right time. I have had a love for Twilight photography since my Trip to Alaska last year. Where ever I travel I always have to squeeze in a twilight shoot.

I captured this photograph on a Fall trip to the Yosemite National park, my first time visiting. I did all the touristy stuff. Then after a foggy stormy night, I arose to this incredible Foggy Twilight scene. I quickly grabbed my camera gear and headed onto the rocks in the middle of the Merced river and set up for the shot.

This Photograph of the Gateway to the Yosemite Valley with El Capitan, Bridelveil Falls and Half Dome all encased in Fog with the first hints of sunlight peaking thru on the mountain tops and in the center of the valley left me speechless. In foreground is the Merced River that flows thru the Yosemite Valley, with these little tuffs of long grass everywhere.

I was moved that such a beautiful place exists and that we were there to witness this magical scene.

This is my Favorite, Personal Fog shot of all time. Tomorrow is a Fog shot commemorating Veterans Day and My Favorite Fog shot of all time.
